We are currently in Nashville, on the road to Dollywood, and so we don’t have time to write a post today. (If you want to come along with us, from where you are, there is no better guide than our friend and fellow Classicist Helen Morales’ 2014 book Pilgrimage to Dollywood: A Country Music Road Trip through Tennessee).
So, here are the links to and an image from the posts from our scheduled two week period from last year (May 21-June 4). Why not take a moment our of your day to waste some time and click through them (and even read them). At the very least it will give you some time away from the petrifying gaze of our Twittering troll of a president. In an April Fool’s Day prank, the Independent newspaper reported that Trump had quit Twitter with the tweet:
Twitter was fun once – BIG fun. But I’m getting tired of the TROLLS (many of whom are douchebags). Got a big job to do putting America first. God bless Twitter & the almighty USA. Peace OUT!
Obviously, the joke here is that Trump is the biggest Twitter troll out there. (Something that he prides himself on). So, as we take a break, and look away, even if just for a moment, we want you to imagine a world in which Trump not only quits (or is barred from) Twitter, but also quits (or is removed from) the presidency. Then we can really take the time to waste a moment, so that we can get the energy to return to the fray and work together to make it happen.
