[Requited Flame (RF) is a sequence of daily Minus Plato posts comprising a photo of wall-text, a slide-show of installation shots, short videos, and a space for future comments about artists included in the exhibition Àbadakone | Continuous Fire | Feu continuel: Indigenous Contemporary International currently on view at the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa. As part of an unfinished curriculum of decolonial critique (ignited at documenta 14 in 2017), RF offers a space to reflect on art as media for Indigenous knowledge and the question of its mediation, especially as part of an unlearning process for settlers (like myself). The title comes from a fragment of the ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus who believed the soul was a living fire and that the flame was requited by all things and all things were requited by the flame. You too can add your own flame to the RF project by posting a comment below. All comments will be added to the image of lined paper above.]
