Classical ‘Double Takes’: Interdisciplinary Collaboration at the Wexner Center for the Arts

Before giving some more details of my latest foray into teaching Classics via Contemporary Art, here is a link to a recently published article in the Ohio State OnCampus newspaper on the so-called ‘Double Take’ phenomena created by Amanda Potter, who runs Educator, Public and University Programs at the Wexner Center for the Arts.

The ‘Double Take’ is an initiative that unites two OSU professors from a range of fields to come together to present on and discuss an ongoing exhibition at the Wexner Center. I did one with my colleague Stratos Constantinidis in the Theatre Dept. back in 2011 for the Elliott Hundley exhibition The Bacchae. Also, my colleague in Classics, Julia Nelson-Hawkins more recently joined up with John Vaughn, a professor of Family Medicine, for a talk on the Polish artist Alina Szapocznikow last year. I wanted to share the article with you given that it is rare enough having one Classicist’s engagement with Contemporary Art in the news, let alone two!
